Being a start up young farmer, with an off grid homestead is a big financial challenge. In the beginning there are so many costs from buying the land, installing a well, installing solar panels, to buying the necessary machinery, building structures/greenhouse, livestock costs, and paying for excess labor costs. The list goes on and on.
The government puts out certain goals, and incentives, in order to meet certain targets in the economy. They may have a list of tasks that they need completed and they reward the person / business who can complete the requirements. In this article I will show a simple step by step breakdown on how to look for Canadian Government funding that may suit your project needs.
Step 1
Search "Canadian Government Grants Apply" in the Google search bar

Step 2
Select the type of funding you are looking for. In this case I selected "Agriculture"

Step 3
Under the "Finance Funding and Grants" section, select "Financial Support, Incentives"

Step 4
On the right hand side, Select the region you wish to search. You can also search for Canada wide programs.

Step 5
Note down the Programs that might match your objectives. (New programs will be highlighted in green)

Step 6
In this case, I will select a program called the "Honey Bee Industry Development Program". This aligns with our company mission to promote the growth and distribution of locally Organic Honey. With bees native to the New Brunswick Region, and the main goal being to pollinate our pesticide free wild blueberry fields.
Description To foster the continued growth of the New Brunswick honey bee sector through, honey bee colonies, purchase or construction of bee hive equipment, and on-farm investment in equipment to improve efficiencies. The increase in honey bee sector support the pollination needs of the wild blueberry sector, including pollination of other agricultural crops.

Step 7
Investigate. Read the Program Guidelines and open the website link for further analysis.
After Selecting the Program / Grant. It is time to fill out your Grant Application.
In Google, Search "Funding Proposal Form".

Step 8
Fill out the 8 page Funding Proposal Form.

Step 9
Refer back to the "Program Guidelines" to get the contact email where to submit your Application. (This contact may be different for each program / grant)
