Canadian government offers many different incentive programs for Renewable energy in Canada. Below I will discuss the size of system we will install on our farm, as well as discuss the manufacturer we decided to go with.

Using this link below to find the Photovoltalic Potential map of Canada. You can calculate your annual, monthly or daily kWh of daylight based on your exact location in specific months.
In November we will get the lowest amount of sunlight hours 40-60 kWh / month (1-2 kWh / day) of energy.
In July we will get the highest amount of sunlight hours 120-140 kWh / month (4-4.5 kWh / day) of energy.
Next, we calculate approximately how many Watts our appliances will use, based on their Energy consumption specifications.
So, since we have calculated that we need approximately 29kWh of energy per day, now we must pick a system that can supply enough power based on our needs/ requirements.
We decided to go with Sun Gold Power Solar kit system with 18 panels rated at 415 Watts.
18 x 415 Watts = 7470 Watts
In the summer months we will have at least 4 kWh / day of sunlight hours in a day.
4 x 7470 Watts = 29,880 Wh
Based on 4 hours of sun light per day our system will produce 30kWh per day. This will meet our needs / requirements in the summer. In the winter months we may transition to using a gas system to heat our water, as well as use the outside winter cold temperatures to freeze our food naturally, using an underground cold cellar.
